The 15th OQEANOUS Plus Meeting was held

The 15th OQEANOUS Plus Meeting was held online on April 21, 2023. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Ikuo Hirono, Vice Dean of Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology.
Attendees included Executive Dean WANG Xichang and Coordinator Zhang Zeming of Shanghai Ocean University, Vice Dean Cheol Huh, Associate Professor YANG Inho, and Coordinator Lim Chaewoong of Korea Maritime and Ocean University, Associate Professor WU Haiyun, Associate Professor Labe Perez Yvan Antonio of Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology, Associate Dean for International Affairs of Faculty of Fisheries Wanwimol Klaypradit, Assistant Dean for International Affairs of the Faculty of Fisheries Yaowapha Waiprib of Kasetsart University, Associate Professor Lee Choon Weng of Universiti Malaya and other staffs.
The main topics of the meeting were (1) report on the completion of the signing of the agreement, (2) report on the Online Exchange Program (OEP) student survey held on March 17 and (3) Short-Term Program (STP) to be held this summer, and (4) in-person OQEANOUS Plus meeting.
First, regarding the signing of agreements, Korea Maritime and Ocean University reported that the signing of student exchange agreements for seven universities has been completed.
Next, Shanghai Ocean University reported on the results of the OEP student survey, showing that the Online Exchange Program (OEP) was highly rated by participating students, and that more than 90% of them expressed a desire to participate in the future OQEANOUS Plus program.
Next, TUMSAT explained the schedule of the Short-Term Program (STP) for 2023: From July 24 to August 6, 2023, a week of online lectures will be followed by a 4-day field trip to Korea Maritime and Ocean University(KMOU) and a 5-day field trip to Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology(TUMSAT). The schedule was presented and approved.
In addition, TUMSAT reported on the number of students from the four ASEAN universities who could be accepted for field trips at TUMSAT and KMOU.
It was explained that a joint online information session on the STP program will be hosted by TUMSAT and KMOU on May 10, 2023.
Next, a proposal was made to hold the August OQEANOUS Plus meeting in a hybrid format with in person and online sessions, and Dr. Cheol Huh, Vice Dean of KMOU, invited at least one faculty member from each university to participate in the in-person meeting.
The next OQEANOUS Plus meeting will be held online on May 26, 2023, chaired by Shanghai Ocean University.
