General Registration Procedures

Step. 1 Prior to Application

Please contact your OQEANOUS Plus coordinator or OQEANOUS Plus contact person at your university (we call HOME University) for information about available programs. If you are unsure who your OQEANOUS Plus coordinator or contact person is at your university, please inquire here.

Before applying, you must consult with your academic advisor at your home university. Both of the following conditions must be met: ① your research topic must be relevant to the research theme of the desired laboratory at TUMSAT, ② the laboratory have the capacity to accept you.

For DDP program applications in particular, prior consultation and a collaborative agreement between your home university advisor and your prospective advisor at TUMSAT will significantly impact the success of your research and thesis/dissertation. Whenever possible, please have your home university advisor consult with your prospective advisor at TUMSAT before applying.

Step. 2 Required documents for the application

  • OQEANOUS Plus Application Form (WORD)
  • OQEANOUS Plus Learning Agreement (WORD)(Please refrain from signing until instructed to do so.)
  • Official Transcript of Records of latest 1 year in English.
  • Enrollment Certificate at home university or a copy of your valid university ID card.
  • A copy of an official score (JLPT, TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, etc.) that certifies your Japanese or English proficiency*
  • A scanned copy or clear photograph of the passport's biographical data page
  • Photo(40mm×30mm) data Photo format for visa 
  • Additional documentation may be requested.

Please submit above documents to OQEANOUS Plus coordinator or OQEANOUS Plus faculty member of your home university by deadline.

*If your home university can issue official documentation certifying Japanese or English proficiency based on CEFR standards, official scores from your home university are also acceptable. Be sure to carefully read the Application Guidelines (IJP) or Application Guidelines (DDP) and confirm that you meet the required proficiency level.

Step. 3 Post Aplication Procedures

  • Online interview(s) with a prospective academic advisor from TUMSAT (with OQEANOUS Plus coordinator(s) present) will be held.
  • Scholarship eligibility is determined separately from the admission screening process based on your academic performance.
  • TUMSAT will conduct its internal review and approval process for admission. After approval, a Certificate of Admission will be issued.
  • After the TUMSAT's acceptance review, detailed procedures that applicants must follow will be explained. It is essential that applicants take the initiative and complete these procedures without delay. If the required procedures are not completed, travel may not be permitted even if airline tickets have been purchased or the TUMSAT's semester has begun.
  • After the applicant's academic advisor and course registration are finalized, the OQEANOUS Plus Learning Agreement will be signed by the applicant, the academic advisors from both (home and host) universities, the deans of graduate schools from both universities, and the OQEANOUS Plus coordinators or OQEANOUS Plus faculty members from both universities. This ensures that the program is fully approved on behalf of both universities. Copies of the Learning Agreement will be retained by both universities.
