General Registration Procedures
A Summary of the Application and Registration Procedure:

Step. 2
Contact the OQEANOUS Plus coordinator or OQEANOUS Plus faculty member at your university for the available program. If you aren't sure the OQEANOUS Plus coordinator or OQEANOUS Plus faculty member in your home university, please ask here.
Step. 3
After you decide your future study plan at TUMSAT, please fill out OQEANOUS Plus Application Form and OQEANOUS Plus Learning Agreement.
Be sure to discuss with your academic advisor about your participation in OQEANOUS Plus Program before you apply. It is especially important, if you are applying to the DDP Program, to make sure that your prospective academic advisor's laboratory is suitable for your research and that his/her laboratory is available. Discussion and cooperation between your home university advisor and host university advisor is essential to the success of your research and thesis/dissertation. If at all possible, before applying, please ask your advisor at your home university to contact your prospective advisor at TUMSAT by email.Step. 4
All required documents must be sent to TUMSAT by your home university OQEANOUS Plus coordinator or OQEANOUS Plus faculty member.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS FOR APPLICATION
- OQEANOUS Plus Application Form (WORD and PDF)*
- OQEANOUS Plus Learning Agreement**(WORD and PDF)* *Please submit both WORD and PDF versions.
- Official Transcript of Records of latest 1 year in English.
- Enrollment Certificate at home university or a copy of your university ID card.
- A copy of an official score (JLPT, TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, etc.)*** that certifies your Japanese/English proficiency ***Any official Score can be used as long as the home university can offer an official document that prove the level in CEFR context.
- Copy of passport
- Photo(40mm×30mm) data Photo format for visa
- Additional documentation may be requested.
**Please refrain from signing the Learning Agreement until instructed to do so.
Please send documents to OQEANOUS Plus coordinator or OQEANOUS Plus faculty member of your home university.
After coordination between TUMSAT and your home university, the Learning Agreement must be signed by the student, your advisor, dean of graduate School and OQEANOUS Plus coordinator or OQEANOUS Plus faculty member authorized to approve the Learning Agreement to ensure full approval of this program on behalf of the responsible academic organization. The original Learning Agreement will be kept on file at the student's home university and host university will retain a copy.
Step. 5
After the on-campus review and approval by TUMSAT, a Certificate of Admission will be issued. The TUMSAT OQEANOUS Plus Coordinator will mail by express mail above Certificate along with a Certificate of Eligibility issued by the Immigration Office in Japan. The Certificate of Eigibility may take at most two months to be issued. Both original documents are required for visa application to enter Japan as a student.
Please apply for a visa on your own as soon as possible after receiving the documents.
Step. 6
Please inform TUMSAT OQEANOUS Plus Coordinator of your date of arrival as soon as you confirmed.
Round-trip airfare may be provided by TUMSAT depending on your country of origin. In this case, please inform the TUMSAT coordinator of your prefered arrival date as soon as you learn the expected date of visa issuance. Travel is not permitted before 4/1 for spring semester and 10/1 for fall semester.
Step. 7
Upon your arrival, please contact TUMSAT OQEANOUS Plus Coordinator for your administrative procedures. Student assistants(called "tutor") will also help you with practical matters such as opening bank account.
Step. 8
You will get your student ID after arrival. Be sure to submit your photo along with your application form beforehand to get a student ID in a timely manner.
Step. 9
During your study at TUMSAT, there might be a possibility that you want to change your study plan. In such a case, you may be required to fill out OQEANOUS Plus Study Change Form and submit to TUMSAT OQEANOUS Plus Office to change original Learning Agreement. Then, we will send the document directly to your home university for their approval signatures. For accurate and efficient transfer of course credits, appropriate changes to Learning Agreement are very important. The original copy of your OQEANOUS Plus Study Change Form will be kept at your home university.
Step. 10
Please inform the TUMSAT OQEANOUS Plus coordinator as soon as your return date is determined.
Step. 11
At the end of the program, an official copy of OQEANOUS Plus Program Completion Report will be issued and sent to OQEANOUS Plus coordinator or OQEANOUS Plus faculty member at your home university for credits transfer purpose besides official transcript.
For IJP program participants, a certificate of completion will be also issued.
You may be requested to write about your study abroad experience, submit photos, or speak about your experience at study abroad information sessions etc. Please take many photos during your study abroad to show your studies, research and life, as you will need them later. Photo with personal identity requires permission to publish on website.
*Living expenses such as food, shopping, student insurance at study abroad destination, phone bill, WIFI and SIM cards, books including textbooks, medical expenses, shipping charge for parcels, transportation to and from the airport, and visa application fee are to be paid by the student. Students may be responsible for common expenses for student dormitories, utilities, etc., depending on the university.
