On December 9th, TUMSAT held the 2nd Marine AI Open Seminar focused on "Advanced Case Studies of Marine x AI" in collaboration with the Marine AI Consortium including Q&A session. There were 123 participants, including speakers. As in the 1st Marine AI Open Seminar, it was conducted online to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
This open seminar invited speakers from Denmark, the U.S., and Norway, and covered a wide range of topics, including the use of sensing data from ships to predict sea conditions, the application of simulation technology to the development of autonomous vessels, and the use of machine learning in aquaculture. Although the seminar was held in English, many questions were asked, and there were many technical and specific questions and answers, such as about the data sets to be used and key points in analysis.

*WISE program (Doctoral Program for World-leading Innovative & Smart Education)is a five-year doctoral degree program for human resource development, exchange, and joint research in cooperation with universities, research institutes, and private companies in Japan and abroad. [The Development of WISE Program to foster AI Professionals for Marine Industries] integrates and develops TUMSAT's knowledge and experience in marine, maritime and fisheries with the latest AI technology, and fosters "AI Professionals for Marine Industry" who can apply their knowledge and experience to social implementation and marine policy.
This program holds several open seminars on Marine x AI in order to widely publicize the achievements of the program to date. Topics will include presentations of results from the collaboration with the Marine AI Consortium and examples of research by program students.
