Autonomous Sailing Ships Working Group

The development of technologies for autonomous navigation leads to technologies that support ship operators. Our working group is collaborating with students to research and develop the technologies necessary for autonomous ships (such as ship movement prediction, optimal avoidance route creation, and automatic operation) from the perspectives of ship operators.

Marine Observations Working Group

The Marine Observations working group is in charge of education and research aimed at teaching marine big data analysis methods, basic knowledge about marine data acquisition and processing, and how to think about using marine data as an end user. Part of this education and research includes field observation exercises with ships and automatic observation equipment.

Working Group on Fishery Resources Assessment and Management

International competition for fishery resources is increasing, and due to climate change, the environment surrounding fishery resources is constantly changing as well. At the same time, both the quality and quantity of available information and data are improving. The Working Group on Fishery Resources Assessment and Management conducts educational activities and research for the development of data science methods, and their implementation, in order to achieve sustainable and efficient use of fishery resources under these circumstances.
