Report on Completion of Internship at FURUNO ELECTRIC CO., LTD.　(MASAKI, Course of Maritime Technology and Logistics)

I participated in a two-week internship program from Monday, August 21 to Friday, September 1 at the Nishinomiya headquarters of FURUNO ELECTRIC CO., LTD.

 

The main task was to implement automatic operation of a ship using data obtained from a ship-handling simulation. Specifically, I implemented a reinforcement learning model, adjusted parameters necessary for reinforcement learning, and presented the results.

Through this internship, I was able to relearn how to implement again. I believe that this experience was very beneficial for my future research activities. In addition, the flextime system allowed me to concentrate on my work in a comfortable environment, and I hope to actively use the experience from this internship in my future activities. Once again, I would like to thank everyone at FURUNO ELECTRIC CO., LTD.
