The 1st Career Path Seminar for AY2023 (July 13, 2023)

EVENT2023/07/27

The 1st Career Path Seminar was held on Thursday, July 13, 2023.
This is a seminar for students of the WISE Program to learn about the experiences of role models who hold doctoral degrees and are active in the industrial world.

In July, under the theme of "Women Researchers in Marine x AI." Ms. Kanako Kobatake (National Maritime Research Institute, offshore advanced technology department, under water robotics research group) gave a presentation on the theme.

Over many students and faculty members attended the event and listened to her talk about the projects she has been engaged in, her current situation, what kind of research she has done in her doctoral program, what difficulties she has encountered, and what assets she has gained from her doctoral program. The participants asked many questions about the theme of her master's thesis, onboard training and obtaining a license, her efforts to develop control programming, and balancing research and child-rearing, and she answered enthusiastically with her experiences. The participants commented that they found the "research and life in the doctoral program" and "how to conduct research" particularly helpful. We will continue to hold "Career Path Seminars" inviting role models who are active in various fields.
