Report on Completion of a residency internship at the Monohakobi Technology Institute (MTI) in Tokyo, Japan. (Kritsada Darasiri, Course of Applied Marine Environmental Studies)

NEWS2024.12.02

From October 10 to October 29, 2024, I participated in a residency internship at the Monohakobi Technology Institute (MTI) in Tokyo, Japan.

A significant portion of the internship involved processing and analyzing IoT data, specifically GPS data collected at one-minute intervals, to validate the feasibility of utilizing vessel data for automated navigation systems. This work culminated in the successful verification of the berthing logic and the development of a prototype model for an automatic berthing simulation tailored for practical implementation.

In addition, I analyzed general ship dynamics, extracted MMG(Maneuvering Model Group) parameters, and gathered various datasets, including pilot data, to gain a deeper understanding of vessel behaviors. Throughout the internship, I actively engaged in discussions on the potential applications of artificial intelligence and IoT data in enhancing maritime navigation and berthing systems.

I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone at MTI who supported my internship, for providing me with this invaluable opportunity to participate in such an enriching experience.
