I think the most sensible decision that I made during my college life is that I joined the JCK program, while the most regrettable thing is that I forgave the chance studying for the Doctor course there. If you are interested in science research, please don't miss the opportunity from your handle.

JCK program helped me to open my eyes to see the world, and I learned a lot both in research and living. Firstly, TUMSAT is a opening university and you can practice your English and Japanese to receive the messages from the others coming from all the world, and I believe that you will learn and get a lot by talking with each other. Secondly, you can focus on your interest without bother, you can play the guitar or practice your Japanese loudly because you don't need to worry about disturbing your roommates. Thirdly, the Professor encouraged me to think the methods and do the research by myself, it really gave me such more confidence to face the problems in my future.

So please enjoy your life here, I am sure you will become different here two years later.

Sometimes, life is just about choices and one of the best choices that I have made is to apply to the JCK course to come here for my study at TUMSAT. Actually, I was just so lucky to be recognized to own that precious opportunity to join in this big and warm family.

Even though my Japanese isn't so good at first, no matter professors, teachers of the JCK course or all my fellows in the lab, they just treat me with nothing but kindness and help. Also, I really enjoyed the different beautiful sightseeing in all the seasons in Japan.

Once you membered in JCK course, you may be provided with several different courses including the vessel internship, corporate internship and lecture given by professors from different fields. Though all these, you may not only enrich your knowledge and experience but can get deeper understanding of the different cultures.

Although we can communicate in English smoothly, it would help me with closer friendship with my Japanese friends if I improved my Japanese skills. With taking the part-time job in convenient store and communicate with fellows in the lab with Japanese, things get better.

Since I'm interested in the theme of the researching in my master course and have the enjoyment of the academic atmosphere here, now I'm in the doctor course at TUMSAT.

The experience in studying abroad is very valuable and essential for my life. It encouraged me to become more independent and braver to face the unknowns. Furthermore, the open horizon may make me think more deeply about how significant the science is for human development and how essential the global cooperation is for science development.

Finally, to those who has already in the JCK course or is going to apply to it, I appreciate your courage and determination of studying abroad with my best wishes.

Captivated by the beauty of marine life, I made up my mind to be an explorer of the seas when I was graduated from OUC. JCK is right the opportunity open to me, which can bring me a new perspective to see the marine science. My life during study at TUMSAT was productive and unforgettable. I appreciate to join a diligent lab and have a supervisor who always has huge passion for learning. All those intensive but fruitful seminars, presentations on academic meetings, delightful trips and talks associated with the people there are the memories I will cherish for a lifetime.

Definitely it was not easy for me to start a new life in Japan without understanding the language well. Fortunately the staff from JCK office and international student department are so considerate and willing to help us to get all the procedures done. During the two years without family, JCK office became another home for us in Japan.

Looking back to the past two years with JCK, it gave me a lot. Courage, confidence, independent learning ability are the best things I have learnt from here. I'm proud that I'm still working for my beginning mind, and I would say that all the experiences during the past two years will benefit me a lot in my future.

The reason why I chose JCK course at TUMSAT is......
I want to have an experience to study abroad, furthermore Japanese shipbuilding industry is at leading level in the world, which could let me learn more and get more.

My life during study at TUMSAT was ......
as same as the school I have experienced before, the school life in TUMSAT is also simple, repeating, however, the differences at the weekend, I used to hope and enjoy the weekend life, when rode my bike shuttle through the streets and alleys of Tokyo. But, when the time passed by, both of lives are memorable.

The most memorable event, lecture or study at TUMSAT is......
the most memorable evet is the first Spring Festival in Japan. More than twenty Chinese students got together in our dormitory to celebrate the Festival, we cooked a lot of foods by ourselves, we ate and drunk, we played games and tell jokes, and had fun until to the daybreak. Which is most special and memorable Spring Festival I have experienced.

One of the difficulties in your life in Japan or study at TUMSAT was......
language problem, and it should be the biggest problem. I still remember the scene that happened at the first week when I arrived in Tokyo. I was stopped by two policemen on the road when I was riding my new bike, they checked my ID card and the registration of my bike, they found the bike haven't been registered, but I don't know how to explain in Japanese that I just got the new bike for two days and I plan to register it at next week. Which caused me into an embarrassing situation.

However, I overcame it by the following way;
I took six Japanese classes per week at first semester, even through all the Japanese classes were held at Shinagawa campus and I lived in Etchjima campus. Apart from this, I also forced myself to find a part-time job at a Japanese restaurant, even though my Japanese was poor at that time. My Japanese ability made a big progress via these two ways.

Currently, I work for......
an Classification Society as an Plan approval Engineer, which is my interest in and also related to the specialized knowledge what I have learned before, so I really enjoy it up to now.

For my present work, what I am taking advantage of the experience in JCK course at TUMSAT is...it should be the team work awareness that cultivated from the JCK intern courses.

Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology (TUMSAT) is the only university specialized in the marine-related scientific education in Japan, which helped me a lot to enrich my experiences and broaden my horizons. During the two-years study in TUMSAT, I refreshed myself every day from the excellent teachers and great students.

As a trans-disciplined student, the biggest challenge for me was the academic study in a new field that I've never been involved. However, luckily enough, my supervisors are so kind. They not only helped me solve the problems during seminars but also gave me many cherished suggestions in their spare time even if they are very busy.

What I appreciate most, are the skills I learnt from the training of JCK course at TUMSAT. The ways to express ideas logically and clearly, to explain problems patiently and precisely, undoubtedly can benefit me a lot in my future work.

To the junior student, if you have dream and ambitions, I strongly recommend JCK program of TUMSAT to you. Don't worry about the languages barriers or Japanese cultures, as the teachers and staffs of JCK office will help you.

Good luck and welcome to Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology.

The reason why I chose JCK course at TUMSAT is to want to learn more knowledge and advanced science and technology, as well as to know more friends.
I want to use this project to better improve my cognition and ability to know the world, especially the understanding of the ocean.

My life during the study at TUMSAT was not only learned a lot of professional knowledge but most importantly, I met many very important friends and teachers. They gave me a lot of help and care. In a foreign country, just because of them, I can become better.

The most memorable event, lecture or study at TUMSAT ,I think There are too many unforgettable memories, together with campus festivals, together with sports games, going out for a trip, taking Japanese classes together, going to internships, making reports together, diving together, working together, and having too many memories. this is the most important two years in life.

For my present work, what I am taking advantage of the experience in JCK course at TUMSAT is do anything we need seriously, seriously, and seriously.
I`m very happy to have this opportunity to learn. I think the most important thing is not how much knowledge is learned, but how to get knowledge and know many outstanding friends.

Hope you will have a good day here and Good luck!

TAs for my overseas study in Japan I have a lot of things to say, while the most of important things is to learn Japanese well, which was aware of when I left there. At first, I did not pay much time on Japanese, because of the graduate paper in my University of China. Moreover, learning a new language is not easy for me whose personality is not fond of starting a conversation positively. Fortunately, we had Japanese classes, several times a week, as well as the lovely language teachers. Although, somethings I felt frustrated when making a mistake or wrong pronunciation, but it advanced me more later.

On the other hand, I really enjoy the life in my research laboratory, where I can know about different cultures from different countries including their values, ideas about one thing, religion which lead me to understand the world well. I also felt grateful for my supervisor, Baba sense, who give me enough space and understanding on my graduate paper even if we have different opinions.

It is not easy to begin a journey in a total unfamiliar country, but after that you can find that it makes you grow.

Marine and coastal research need cooperation and communication, JCK program provided me these. Professors and instructors are very knowledgeable, as well as faculty, they guide the students to consider and review the problem as an integrated unit with multiple slices from different aspects. There also have well-designed syllabus, lectures and field observations are very informative and interesting.

I spent fruitful years during my study at TUMSAT. After the study lectures about coastal processes theory, the conservation of coastal area and protection and mitigation methods of coastal hazard, I decided my research topic as to improve and develop the marine structure for coastal line protection. I believe in Japan, there are many techniques accumulations in the area of marine and coastal engineering, for seeking of the new horizon, this work is worth to do.

Currently, I am working at the University of Tokyo as a Ph.D. student, my work is focusing on coastal sustainability issues. For my present work, what I am taking advantage of the experience in JCK course at TUMSAT is the ability of communication with people with different background and the ability of numerical computation, which also due to the help from JCK faculty and my supervisors.
