Opening of the 13th OQEANOUS Joint Meeting

  The 13th OQEANOUS Joint Meeting was held online on November 27, 2020. Attending on behalf of our university were Prof. Masashi Maita, Dean of the Graduate School of Marine Science and Technology (responsible for implementing this project at the university), Prof. Akio Okayasu, Prof. Fuxiang HU, and four other members of the university staff. The meeting was also attended by Prof. Huh Cheol, Vice Dean of the Graduate School, Assistant Prof. Yang Inho and one other member from Korea Maritime and Ocean University, and Prof. Yang Jinlong, Director of International Exchange, Prof. Zhong Junsheng, Director of Alumni Association Office, and four other faculty members from Shanghai Ocean University.

  As with the last meeting, this meeting's agenda was information sharing regarding border measures in different countries such as temporary quarantine for those arriving, and the possibility of conducting online student exchange events and winter school as an alternative to STP (short-term program: summer school) under the worldwide spread of the novel coronavirus. Participants also shared information on the future prospects of each university with regard to the program being carried out from the next year onwards, and it was agreed that it will continue even though the support provided to students will change. In addition, participants continued to exchange opinions on items and detailed methods for the post-completion survey appropriate for each university's situation, and agreed to the content of the survey.

  The 14th OQEANOUS Joint Meeting is scheduled to be held online in March 2021.
