The FY 2016 MEXT Inter-University Exchange Project: the 5th OQEANOUS Meeting was held

On October 30, the 5th OQEANOUS Committee Meeting was held at Korea Maritime and Ocean University (KMOU). Prof. Maita, Vice Dean of Graduate School of Marine Science and Technology, who is primarily responsible for this project, Prof. Okayasu, Dean of school of Marine Resources and Energy, and other four university staff (TUMSAT); Prof. KIM Dong-Hyeog and other three university staff (KMOU); Prof. Gao Jian and other three university staff (SHOU) attended the meeting.

This OQEANOUS meeting was convened in order to discuss the operation of the international collaboration education program on marine science based on the China-Japan-Korea Version of Erasmus (renamed as OQEANOUS*) which was adopted by MEXT's Inter-University Exchange Project in FY2016. The committee was held four times between January and June this year.

The 5th meeting was held for sharing information on problems and improvements in relation to starting joint student exchange programs (IJP and DDP in OQEANOUS Program) in October, 2017. After opening remarks from Prof. KIM Dong-Hyeog, Prof. Maita and Prof. Gao Jian, Prof. Cheol Huh (KMOU) gave an explanation on the agendas of this meeting toward smooth implementation for this project. After that, Prof. Okayasu gave the detail of "CTSEA Survey Form" for the assurance of quality of education. All participants had a lively discussion and shared a productive time toward the development of this program in the future.

The 6th OQEANOUS Committee Meeting is scheduled to be held in the end of next April at TUMSAT.
